A Scandal in Town
Naomi returned. She enters the gate.Displaced for ten years, she’s wiping off tears. What transpired to alter her fate?
As I greet her, she shuns my embrace. Her men folk are dead?Is that what she said?Sorrow deepened the lines on her face.
Who’s the lady who stands by her side?Mahlon’s widow is she. This report baffles me.Did Mahlon choose a Moabite bride?
It’s Elimelech I choose to blame. He moved his dear wifewhich upset her whole life. She returns void of riches and fame.
No wonder she hangs her head down. This news must be toldand because I am bold,I’ll inform all the gossips in town.

Blind Man Sees I asked Jesus to heal me. He gave me my sight. Now all of my days are filled with delight.
On the very first day, I had the most fun.Being able to see, I was able to run.
I ran around flowers. I ran around trees.I picked a few berries, then ran from the bees.
I plucked a banana, I plucked a fresh pear.I checked out a twig that got stuck in my hair.
I saw clouds. I saw water. I kicked a few rocks.I saw birds and their feathers. I watched a whole flock.
There are colors that dazzle. And some that are gray.I thank God for my sight when I wake up each day.

Romans 8 When you don’t know how to pray,be still before God.When you’re stressed beyond endurance, admit your weakness. When dreams shrink and hopes fade, confess your despair.God hears every word, feels the pounding of your heart, engages in your quest for answers. And when all you can do is cry, release your tears to Himwho treasures them. For the Holy Spirit intercedes,Jesus mediates on your behalf. And as God your Fatherworks your circumstances togetherfor His glory and your good, your love for Him will grow, your trust in Him will strengthen, and your faith will ignite heaven’s angelsin praise.

Benefit
The kind of lovewe think we needis the spoiling kind.
But in the endthat weakens us.
So God refuses our selfish requestsand we grow up.

Anticipation
Will You come whileI’m watching the sky?
In the spring gazing throughnew sprigs of life..Through a mirage on a hot,summer day…During a windstorm,leaves blocking my view…On a chilled night,stars shimmering…
Will You come whileI’m watching the sky?

David and Jonathan (Sing to: Oh Where Have You Been, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?)
“You have been a good friend, Jonathan, Jonathan,You have been a good friend,” said brave David.“Though your dad tries to kill me,(throws a spear, I have to flee). You protect me, you are just like my brother.”
“Oh, brave David, you’re my pal. Take my sword. Take my bow.Oh brave David, my good pal, you must go.Jealous Saul is after you. You’re more popular, it’s true.God go with you, you are just like my brother.”
“Let’s be friends forevermore,” said those men, said those men.“Let’s be friends forevermore; make a promise.I’ll help you and you help me,help each other’s families. While we live, we will always be like brothers.”

Based on Psalm 13
I felt a sense of hopelessness each day,as if my prayers weren’t answered. Did You care? Not knowing arrogance kept You away,I watched as others prospered. How unfair!
I thought my troubles needlessly prolonged. If my God loved me, He would end this test!I lost my witness as I lost my song,by not submitting to what You deemed best.
I cried, “Lord, this dismay I have not earned!”You held my stony heart as You replied,“It is not for your soul that you’re concerned, your ultimatums have betrayed your pride.”
I saw myself as full of vanityand bowed my head in true humility.

Enigma
Maybe the reason we can’t capture joyis that God sends it in pieces
a forgiveness grantedan accident avoideda friendship offereda pain subdueda marriage restoreda sick child healeda new song composed
that must be put together like a puzzleand appreciated like a grand picture, unfolding.
